Wednesday’s Wish Trip, Ski Tip Lodge-Keystone, Colorado
So if you are a JANEer, (regular follower) then you know Wednesday’s Wish Trips are a way we let you know about places we found, and are dying to visit…but today I am cheating a little! That’s because I have already been to today’s destination! With the fall weather moving in, I am loving every minute of the cooler days and am ready for chilly, crisp evenings. Fall makes me think of the mountains, skiing, apple strudel and sitting by the fire. I know the perfect place where you can be treated to each of these things, the Ski Tip Lodge Bed & Breakfast in beautiful Keystone, Colorado. Aspen and birch trees envelope the historic 1860’s era log cabin. Once a regular stopping point along the Argentine Pass stagecoach route between Georgetown and Montezuma, the cabin has since been a private home. Now revamped as a quintessential, luxurious but rustic bed and breakfast, the Ski Tip Lodge managed by Vail Properties, is just the place to welcome the cool fall days ahead. Directly behind the lodge is a beautiful lake that skirts the property. Enjoy a hot toddy, or cold beer on the patio by the lake, or inside by the lodge’s stone fireplaces in two common areas. Such a tranquil location compared to the hustle of town, if you are looking for some peace and maybe some romance, this is just the right place to visit. Walk up the creeky old stairs to your quaint bedroom, and if you have a hankering for a midnight snack, sneak down the hallway to find the “hidden” cookie jar! (Jane got caught with her hand in it a few times!) The beds are truly heavenly comfortable, if you find you’d loved to be tucked to sleep under a quilt, you’ll find extras in a vintage laundry hamper upstairs, it’s like staying at your friend’s cabin, homey. You can even open a window to hear the chirp of the birds as you fall to sleep….so relaxing. Jane’s favorite thing about staying at the Ski Tip, breakfast. Croissant french toast with cinnamon whipped cream and peach compote paired with applewood smoked bacon. Welcome to fall.
