Wednesday’s Wish Trip, Fazenda Nova-(near) Tavira, Portugal
Sometimes I see a place, and I just know. I know I will be planning a visit. Fazenda Nova Country House reminds me of the place I got married (eloped), Les Terres M’Barka, located outside Marrakech, Morocco. Surely you know me well enough by now to know of all places, if I got married there, it is divine. Fazenda Nova is no exception. I am looking to plan a trip next month to recharge my batteries, eat well, hike, lounge and of course take beautiful, inspired photos. If I can’t make it next month, rest assured I’ll travel there soon. I found out about Fazenda Nova just this week, and can’t wait to share it with you!
Located outside of Tavira, in the Eastern Algarve region of Portugal is the beautiful Fazenda Nova. FN was formerly a family home, perhaps that is why it has the feel of “home.” Situated on about 25 acres of land, FN boasts an orchard, as well as vegetable and herb garden. (I look for properties that grow as much of their menu as possible.) ‘A cozinha’ is the in house restaurant which specializes in seasonal menus, with much of the fare offered paired with fresh local fish.
If creature comforts are what you look for, you’ll be in love, as I am, with the room decor at FZ. Rooms fall into three categories: garden suites, garden apartments and a penthouse, most rooms have their own private garden or terrace. All finishes are gorgeous, and include Villeroy and Boch bathroom fittings, Hansgrohe rain drencher showers, Egyptian cotton sheets, soft towels and bathrobes. I particularly love the polished concrete floors juxtaposing the idea of a farm, traditionally rustic, with modern, linear elements. If you enjoy lazy afternoons in a hammock, then you’ll be pleased to know many are offered on private patios.
Question then remains, what does the area offer? A”rolling countryside…of small bustling towns and characterful fishing ports and a wide range of beaches that form part of the UNESCO-protected ria formosa coastline as it sweeps down to Spain.”
The photos tell the rest of the story.
