Wednesday’s Wish Trip, Wigwam Motel-San Bernadino, California

Have kids obsessed with the Disney Pixar movie Cars (or just love a good road trip)? Then be the ultimate mom, aunt or uncle and plan a trip to the iconic Wigwam Hotel in San Bernadino, California! The movie’s Cozy Cone Motel was modeled after this iconic Route 66 gem (as well as the Blue Swallow Inn located in Tucumcari, NM). The Wigwam, built in 1949 gives a certain nod to the car camping, road tripping family trucksters of days gone by. The complex is made up of sleeping “teepees” and a central office/gift shop. Each of the 19, 30 ft tall sleeping teepees were built with a wood frame, and have concrete and stucco walls. At 52 feet tall and approximately 35 feet in diameter, the gift shop and office is the largest. Each of the sleeping units are approximately 25 feet in diameter and have two windows.” Recent improvements include hot water- hooray!
